50th Kerala State Film Awards: Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kani Kuruthi, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Fahadh Faasil win top honours

50th Kerala State Film Awards was announced on Tuesday at 12 pm. The winners were declared by Cultural minister AK Balan and around 119 films were screened for the process. The movies also include the unreleased one which is Mohanlal starter Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham directed by Priyadarshan. The winners include Suraj Venjaramoodu bagging Best Actor for Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 and Vikurthi. While Kani Kuruthi is bestowed with Best Actor (Female) for her performance in BiriyaaniVasanthi and Kenjira won Best Films (first and second) respectively. While Lijo Jose Pellissery bagged Best Director award for Jallikettu.

Fahadh Faasil won Best Character Actor for Kumbalangi Nights, along with actor Swasika Vijay for Vasanthi.

Jury Award for Best VFX - Sidharth Priyadarshan for Marakkar: Arabikdalinte Simham

Jury mention - Music director - V Dakshinamoorthy for Shyamaraagam

Jury Mention - Actor - Nivin Pauly for Moothon, Anna Ben for Helen, Priyamvada Krishnan for Thottappan

There were several veteran actors namely Mohanlal, Mammootty eyeing for the award. But most of them were bagged by the artists who are a part of New Wave of Malayalam cinema.
