Incessant rains claims four lives in AP

Vijayawada, Oct 13 (UNI) The incessant rains under the influence of a deep depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal has claimed four lives in Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
An official release here on Tuesday said that two persons were killed when the retaining wall caved-in in Ganapathi Nagar of Munagada Mandal and one person was drowned in the Varaha river in Cheedikada Mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
One person was killed in a wall collapse incident at Bommuru in Rajahmundry Rural Mandal.
So far 3,700 flood victims have been shifted to 17 relief camps in Visakhapatnam district while 978 flood victims have been shifted to relief camps in East Godavari district.
As many as 40 villages were affected in Visakhapatnam district while 11 villages were affected by the incessant rains in East Godavari district.
Out of the 13 districts, 10 districts received excess rainfall, while the remaining districts received less rainfall, the release said.
The officials instructed the District Collectors to ensure that control rooms are operated round the clock at Collectorates, implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to various line departments disseminated by Disaster Management.
The Collectors were directed to maintain adequate stocks of medicines required as per standard emergency medical protocol for treatment of diseases likely to spread during heavy rains / flood situations in all PHCs, CHC, Area and District Hospitals.
Meanwhile, as per the latest observations, the system crossed North Andhra Pradesh Coast close to Kakinada (near Lat. 17.0°N & Long 82.4° E) between 0630 & 0730 hours on Tuesday as a Deep Depression with maximum sustained wind speed of 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph.

Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with extremely heavy rain at isolated places is likely to occur in the districts of Peddapalli, Siddipet, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, khammam, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Suryapet of Telangana during the next 24 hours, Meteorological Centre said on Monday.
In a bulletin here, it said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Telangana, West Godavari district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during the same period.

Over two kgs of gold seized by Customs officials at Kannur Int'l Airport
