Tripura makes antigen test mandatory for priest, volunteers and organisers of community Durga Pujas

Agartala, Oct 12 (UNI) Tripura government has made antigen test of Covid-19 must for puja organisers, priests and all volunteers by October 22 next, a day before the formal beginning of four-day-long Durga puja festival to prevent the risk of spread of Coronavirus infection.
The officials stated that the Covid testing teams would be available in all the big budget puja pandals as per the schedule while as many as 17 stringent guidelines for puja organisers have also been issued besides, standard protocols to fight against Covid-19.
There would be no community puja in the containment zones this year due to Covid-19 pandemic but the festival can be celebrated at home and even the villagers cannot gather as assemblies have also been prohibited. All puja pandals need to have Covid screening mechanism and if any pandal hopper is found with Covid-19 symptoms, he or she would not be allowed to enter.
Procession and dance during puja days would strictly prohibit as part of the standard protocol, the guideline said, adding that the priests would have to chant the mantras and lead the prayers on loudspeakers so that people’s gathering could be avoided during puja days.
Similarly, only a limited number of devotees would be allowed to offer floral prayer to Goddess Durga during the puja days.
Meanwhile, the persons aged beyond 65, pregnant women, children aged below 10 years have been advised against visiting pandals and, guidelines have stressed on the need of CCTV coverage.
The government banned all funfair and amusements around puja pandals or any other place, which could attract crowds.
The setting up of temporary food stalls and restaurants during festival seasons have also been restricted and appropriate authority would allow such shops if satisfied with their safety arrangements; otherwise, only the established hotels and restaurants would serve food to pandal hoppers, the official stated.
