The Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust has appealed to all political parties not to give tickets to those who commit crimes against women in view of Bihar assembly elections. The trust demanded parties to make candidates with a clean image without doing vote bank politics.

The trust said this will not only make honest leaders reach the assembly but will also increase respect for women and will not look at them with a bad eye.

The trust told all the parties that are reaching out to share the grief of the family of Hathras's daughter and they should think seriously and do not let anyone with a criminal image become MLA MP and Minister.

For this, it is necessary that such people should not be given tickets. Nirbhaya Jyoti Trust has been formed by the family of the daughter who lost her life after gang rape in Delhi in December 2012.

30 percent minor, 20 serious criminals kept fighting elections

If you look at the figures of a recent ADR report, out of a total of 10785 candidates who participated in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held since 2005 in Bihar, 3230 i.e. 30 percent criminal cases and 2204 i.e. 20 percent serious criminal cases were registered.

On the other hand, out of the total 820 MPs and MLAs of Bihar, 469 ie 57 percent had criminal cases against them and 295 ie 36 percent had serious criminal cases.
