HYDERABAD: Maoist insurgents killed a party activist of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in Mulugu district of Telangana late on Saturday, days after a high-level security meeting of the home ministry was held in the same district to finalise strategies to counter the banned outfit, report Srinath Vudali & Siva Kumar Pinna.
Mulugu police said Maduri Bheemeshwara Rao, 55, was at home in Alubaka village when six armed Maoists came calling. They charged him with being a police informer and stabbed him to death, his wife said. “They dragged me away when I rushed to protect my husband. After killing my husband, they fled,” Kumari told reporters.
Police said Rao, who owns a fertilizers business, was killed by Maoists because he refused to give them funds.
