India’s financial capital Mumbai and its neighbouring regions face a power outage because of a grid failure.

The failure disrupted incoming supply from Tata Power Co. Ltd., according to a tweet by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport. The outage also disrupted local railway services.

Mumbai is home to more than 2 crore people. The city is also a base for nation’s stock exchanges, central bank, and several large conglomerates.

BMC Commissioner Tells Hospitals To Get Enough Diesel To Maintain For Eight Hours

The

All the hospitals to contact their respective SWM transport GARAGE officers to get enough supply of diesel for at least eight hours so that there is no power failures in hospitals especially ICUs.

In case of any issues please contact disaster control room for help.

CE SWM to coordinate this.

Disaster control and CE M&E To keep stand bye private MOBILE DG SET vehicles handy within next one hour in case power failure continues beyond two hours.

Please report to Shri. Narvekar or smt. Sangita Lokhande at DM Control about this every half an hour.

Suburban train services were disrupted due to the power outage in in Mumbai. “We are stuck here since 10:00 am,” a commuter said at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. “We are clueless about how long we will have to wait here." ANI

Mumbai Power Cut: What We Know So Far

Details: Electric power failure due to central grid failure of Tara Power at Kalwa. It will take 45 min to 1 hour to restore the supply.

Impact: (1) Failure of Electric Supply all over Mumbai City and suburbs; (2) Train traffic of all lines Central, Eastern & Western disrupted.
