The newly released Positive Oceans Index has analysed the best countries around the world for ocean health, examining factors including marine biodiversity; coastal development and infrastructure; leisure activities, and conservation and regeneration.
The Positive Oceans Index by Positive Travel aims to create awareness about marine life activities and issues in destinations, and enable you as a visitors to make choices towards being more conscious and mindful ocean "users". The study has been led by sustainable travel pioneers Positive Travel alongside a range of research centres, tourist boards and NGOs.
Coming out on the top spot as the country which best protects its oceans is Australia, with New Zealand taking the second place spot and Canada and Malaysia in joint third place.
