The power supply (in Mumbai) has been restored substantially, out of 2000 MW which went off, about 1900 MW has been restored, the remaining will be restored soon. The national grid is fine, the problem happened in some parts of the state grid.

We are sending a team from the Central Authority to Mumbai to sit down with the state transmission authority and find out where the problem was and how it started. There will be a discussion on the steps to be taken so it doesn't happen again.

CM Office Statement

CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray discussed the power outage with Minister for Energy Nitin Raut and directed that immediate efforts be made to restore power supply in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan area. He has also instructed BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal to maintain uninterrupted power supply to hospitals & directed the Chief Secretary that the control rooms & fire brigade should be vigilant & provide immediate assistance to prevent any accidents due to power cut. The Chief Minister has also directed the suburban railways to coordinate with the railway administration for immediate relief to the affected passengers.

Power supply to all essential services in Mumbai, Mumbai Suburbs, Kalyan, Thane, Palghar and New Mumbai have been restored. Non essential services will also be restored shortly: Energy Minister Nitin Raut

Adani Electricity Mumbai statement

“Due to transmission network failure outside of our system at around 10.05 this morning, power grid saw outages across utilities in Mumbai. However, Adani Electricity Mumbai (AEML), distribution system operated Islanding facility successfully and continued successfully power supply to vital installations with the help of Dahanu Thermal Power Station (DTPS). We wish we had more power for which we are dependent on grid input. The power supplies to remaining consumers of AEML are being restored in phased manner as input power is being restored by Grid operations of Maha," an AEML Spokesman said.

AEML System experienced grid disturbance due to fault outside of it. Islanding of Dahanu saved the essential supplies. Rest supplies are being restored as grid inputs get available from Maharashtra System. Please bear with us as we await Maharashtra grid restoration.

Statement by Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut

Mumbai-Thane-Kalyan power failure is being attended to.

Kalwa- padgha transmissions line got tripped, hence Thane- Palghar, New Mumbai power is off.

Consequently, cascading the power failure to Mumbai-Thane & Mumbai suburban city.

It will be restored in approximately an hour.

Tata Power company statement

At 10.10 am there were simultaneous substation tripping in MSETCL's Kalwa, Kharghar causing a huge dip in frequency in the Mumbai transmission system which led to tripping of Mumbai power supply. Restoration work in is in progress to bring supply from the 3 Hydro units and Trombay units once the MSETCL transmission lines are connected. Inconvenience is regretted

  • 400kV Pune-Kalwa line was under forced shutdown since 13:47 hrs due to R-Y phase fault. Pune end fault current-11.13 Kamp Dist-30.4 KM

  • E/S on 400kV Kalwa-Padghe line-1 availed by Maharashtra at 06:54hrs. Expected to be revived by 09:30hr but could not be revived by Maharshtra.

  • At 09:58hrs 400kv Kalwa-padghe-2 carrying 633MW tripped . The flow on Pune-Khargar rose upto 900MW and tripped at 10:00hrs.

  • Khargar ICT-1 & 2 also tripped at 10:05hrs resulting in load drop of 360MW in Mumbai system.

  • SLDC Kalwa is requested to normalize 400kV Kalwa-padghe-1 immediately and take Pune –Khargar via TBC into service.

  • Mumbai island system was seperated but could not be on holt

  • Dahanu has islanded with 380 MW. All COVID hospitals and essential establishments being catered too

Residents across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane on Monday reported power cuts on Monday.

Sources from BEST power supply said there is currently off supply in entire MMR region due to grid failure.

"The electric supply is inttruptted due to TATAs incoming electric supply faiure. Inconveniences is regretted," BEST Electric Supply said on Twitter.

"There is multiple tripping of lines and transformer (Kalwa-padghe and Khargar ICTs) supplying power to Mumbai system . 360 MW supply in Mumbai and suberbs affected. Restoration under process," it said.

Residents of Kurla, Ghatkopar, Chembur, Andheri, Juhu, Chandivali, Vashi Malad confirmed that there is currently no power supply at their homes.
