AP HC orders CBI probe over objectionable posts on judges in social media

Vijayawada, Oct 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh High Court, here on Monday, ordered a CBI probe on the objectionable comments made against High Court judges in the social media by some people.

The High Court expressed its dissatisfaction over the investigation of CID officials of state police. The High Court directed the CBI to take up the case and submit the report by eight weeks.

The then Registrar General B Rajasekhar had lodged a written complaint to the police on May 28, 2020 against the objectionable comments made in the social media against the high court judges. The high court questioned the police why cases were registered against 9 accused only.

The high court contended that the police should have taken stringent steps to check the malicious campaign against the high court judges. The government Advocate General S Sriram appraised the court that they had no objection to entrust the investigation to the CBI.

The cybercrime cell of the CID registered cases against 49 persons including some ruling party leaders under section 6 of IT Act, and sections 153, (A), 505 (2) and 506 in Mangalagiri police station for posting abusive comments against judges.
