KALYAN: Looking at Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) election, the BJP corporators on Monday protested against KDMC administration by sitting outside its headquarter gate alleging that civic body was not sanctioning civic works under corporators' funds for last six months due to which development works in each wards have been affected.
They demanded KDMC to sanction work and funds for it on priority basis as present corporators' tenure is ending on November 15 after which KDMC election may get declared. The protest was led by former state minister Ravindra Chavan in which all 42 BJP corporators were present. Chavan demanded that due to Covid-19 for six months they co-operated civic body as first priority was to deal Covid-19 but now since Covid-19 are under control they want that the civic body should sanction other pending works of corporators whose tenure are ending on next month on November 15.
When asked about the issue, Dr Vijay Suryawanshi, Commissioner of KDMC said, "Due to Covid-19 epidemic our priority is to control Covid-19 but since Covid-19 are now under control i have asked my all departments officials to sanction works under corporators' fund as per funds available with us".
The protest which went for at least four hours was called off after civic administration assurance to take works of corporators under corporator funds.
