Ghaziabad: An audio clip has surfaced in which a senior health official posted in the district earlier can be heard purportedly levelling serious allegations of corruption against a state minister and a few of her colleagues.
One of the allegations is about officials taking huge amount of money for providing internships to MBBS students. However, the official, who is purportedly making the allegations, said the clip had been tampered with. “This mischievous act has been done with an intention to malign my image. The portion where I am telling the ward boy that such allegations are being levelled against the minister and colleagues has been removed. I am definitely going to lodge an FIR in the case,” the official told TOI.
In the audio clip, a ward boy complains to the official about the difficulties he is facing in getting accommodation in a hospital. The ward boy alleges that though he had been allotted an accommodation, the clerk looking after it is not handing him the official letter.
The official then apparently tells the ward boy that the clerk is doing so at the behest of a senior colleague and the minister.
The official alleges further that ever since the new colleague has taken charge, the corruption in the hospital has increased manyfold and the amount of bribe raised at least four times.
Talking about MBBS internships at a hospital, the official can be reportedly heard saying that earlier, Rs 20,000 would be charged annually for allowing such programmes on paper while students continued their studies at home during that period. But now, the official purportedly alleges, the amount has been increased to Rs 80,000.
In the clip, the official also alleges that a senior posted in Meerut takes money for approving maternity leaves. The official reportedly says that the bribe amount for sanctioning such leaves has been doubled from Rs 18,000 to Rs 36,000 in the past one year.
