Depression over Bay of Bengal may trigger cyclonic storm in Arabia sea.

Bhubaneswar, Oct. 12 (UNI) The deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal has moved in a west-northwestward direction and lay centred about 250 km south-east of Visakhapatnam this morning, according to the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University here.
The system may remain stationary along the central Andhra Pradesh coast before moving in a northerly direction tomorrow and thereafter head in a westerly direction and cross the Andhra Pradesh coast close to Visakhapatnam in the evening, Dr. S.C.Sahu, Director of CEC, said.
After crossing the coast, the system is likely to continue in a westerly direction through Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Maharashtra. But its remnants could intensify into a cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea along the Maharashtra-Gujarat coast on October 16 night or 17 morning, he said.
Under the influence of the system, sporadic thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain is likely to occur from October 12 to 14 at isolated places in the coastal and south Odisha districts.
Heavy precipitation is likely on October 13 in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kandhamal and Kalahandi. Light to moderate rainfall could occur in the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Bolangir and Nuapada on October 13 night and 14 morning.
Under the influence of the system, wind speed reaching 40 to 50 km per hour could occur off and along the Ganjam coast and also in the interior districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nawarangpur and Malkangiri districts over the next two days, he said.
Dr. Sahu said there was also probability of light to moderate rainfall along Odisha coast from October 17 night to 21 with heavy rainfall likely at one or two locations in the coastal pockets during the period due to low pressure/cyclonic circulation over north-west Bay of Bengal along the Odisha coast.
