NOIDA: Three days after a resident was thrashed by some 25 guards at Cleo County in Sector 121, police have arrested the former property manager of the housing society.
On Thursday, police officers had nabbed six guards in connection with the attack. However, Cleo County’s former security head and 19 other guards are on the run.
Salekh Chand, the sacked property manager, had allegedly ordered the society’s guards to assault Shaleen Mathur for levelling allegations of corruption in electricity meter readings in the housing society a few days ago .
“Salekh has been arrested by the Phase III police,” DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander said.
On Mathur’s demand that IPC section for criminal breach of trust be added to the FIR against the builder, the DCP said that it was a matter of investigation.
Mathur, who had earlier complained about false billing in the housing society, told TOI on Friday that he had gone to speak to the maintenance manager in his office about the alleged inflated bills on Wednesday morning when he was first dragged out and then thrashed by security guards.
The 33-year-old entreprenuer, meanwhile, said that there was pressure on him to leave the society and was issued an eviction notice by his landlord on the ground that he had been paying upkeep charges to the maintenance officials rather than him. “I am going to take it legally,” he said.
Tushar Goyal, another resident, said they have asked the builder for an electrical audit to which he has agreed upon.
“The builder has been cooperating so far and it is possible that some maintenance officials were involved in the alleged inflation of bills,” he said.
In a statement, the builder has said, “There is no place for people with such actions in our organisation and as a result, we have not only terminated the services of property in-charge Mr Salekh Chand and security in-charge Arvind from their services, but also given them a lifetime ban from any of our group projects. We will not tolerate such activities in our area.”
