BJP demands action under Epidemic Act against Punia

Raipur, Oct 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday demanded the Bhupesh Baghel government to take action under the Epidemic Act against Congress Chhattisgarh In-Charge PL Punia.
Former MLA and party's Raipur District (City) President Srichand Sunderani said in a statement here that Congress In-Charge Punia met Assembly Speaker two days after giving his sample for Novel Coronavirus.
In addition to this, Mr Punia met Chief Minister and several other Ministers, besides holding meetings with hundreds of workers and attending rallies, said Mr Sunderani. Now that Mr Punia's sample has tested positive for Coronavirus, it raised risk of infection in the entire Cabinet and hundreds of other people, said Mr Sunderani.
He said that as per rule, Mr Punia should have been in quarantine after giving his sample till arrival of his test report. But, he not only held meetings, but also travelled by flights, Mr Sunderani said, adding that Mr Punia put lives of other passengers also in danger, who travelled in same flights.
According to Mr Sundarani, more than one-and-a-half lakh people have been infected with Coronavirus in the state and the death rate is also very high in the state at present.
He charged Mr Punia with violating Sections 188, 269, 270 of the Epidemic Act by deliberately endangering the lives of the people. He demanded that Mr Punia should be arrested with registration of a case against him.
Mr Sunderani also warned that BJP will have no other option but to move Court on this matter, if action was not taken against Mr Punia.
