Kochi, Oct 11 (UNI) Customs Department issued a notice to former principal secretary to Chief Minister M Sivasankar to appear before the agency again on Tuesday in connection with the gold smuggling case.
After two days of continuous interrogation at the Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate office here, Sivasankar has given two days time to give an explanation and the officials will arrive at a decision whether to include him in the accused list.
The agency has questioned Sivasankar twice after his alleged links with Swapna Suresh, prime accused in the smuggling surfaced.
Central agencies including National Investigative Agency, Customs and Enforcement Directorate were conducting separate inquiries into the seizure of gold worth about Rs 15 crore from a diplomatic baggage at Thiruvananthapuram airport on July five.
Several people including two former employees of the UAE consulate, Swapna Suresh and Sarith P S were arrested by the agencies in connection with the case.
