OJEE, Common PG Entrance Test to commence from tomorrow

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) and Common PG Entrance Test (CPET)-2020 will commence from Monday onwards. While OJEE will continue till October 19, CPET will be concluded on October 22. Around 79,800 candidates are scheduled to appear the OJEE. CPET-2020, which is being conducted for the first time in the state, will be attended by over 62,000 candidates.

OJEE chairman SK Chand said three shifts have been planned for each day of the examination. Government has opened five examination centres in three cities outside the state (Ranchi in Jharkhand, Patna in Bihar and Kolkata in West Bengal) and 54 centres in 21 centres inside the state for the candidates, he added.

"We are taking all precautions and Covid-19 protocols of the government for holding the examinations. It will be a contact less examination by maintaining proper distancing between examinees. We have already issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to conduct the examination amid pandemic. This computer based test is monitored by skill development and technical education department," said Chand.

Lateral entry to BTech examinations will be conducted in six shifts on October 12 and 13. Test for MCA will be held in two shifts on October 14, while candidates can sit for BPharm on October 14 and 15 in four shifts.

On October 16, tests will be held for MTech, integrated MBA, MArch, MPharm, MPlan, lateral entry to BSc and lateral entry Pharmacy. MBA and BTech examinations will be conducted on October 17 and October 19 respectively.

OJEE is being conducted every year for the purpose of holding common entrance examinations for admission into undergraduate (UG)/postgraduate (PG) level professional courses including BTech, MTech, MBA, MCA, MArch, MPlan, MPharm and BPharm in the state.

Similarly, the higher education department will start Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2020) from Monday. Odisha is conducting this test for the first time for admission into state public universities and colleges with PG courses. The test will be held in three shifts per day. First shift will be conducted between 10am and 11.30am, while the second shift will start from 12.30pm and continue till 2pm. The last shift will be held between 3pm and 4.30pm.
Odisha state higher education council vice chairman Asoka Kumar Das said students can sit for one and a half hours examination and answer questions for 70 marks. "There is no negative marking system. It will be OMR based test. We have opened 28 examination centres across the state to accommodate candidates near their native places," he added.


On October 12, examination will be held for anthropology (arts), anthropology (science), geography, marine science (oceanography) and MBA courses. Tests for physics, LLM, electronics and telecommunication and commerce will be conducted for October 13.


Students can appear examination for courses like microbiology, Hindi/English, zoology, statistics and PMIR on October 14 and environmental science, sociology, like ife science, Odia, population study and philosophy on October 15. Tests for subjects like economics/home science, geology, history, MBA (rural management)/rural development will be conducted on October 16.


The test will be conducted for public administration, computer science, MPH, MBA (Travel and Tourism) on October 17, botany, education, chemistry, library and information science on October 19, material science, Sanskrit/Santali/Urdu, mathematics, linguistics, journalism and mass communication on October 20.


Students can sit for examinations for the subjects such as biodiversity and wildlife conservation, yoga and naturopathy, bio informatics, political science and biotechnology on October 21, while they can appear tests for women's studies, electronic science, psychology and marine science (biology) on the last day of the CPET.
