IPL 2020, SRH vs RR Highlights: Rajasthan Royals (RR) pulled off yet another miracle in the ongoing IPL 2020 campaign as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets with just a ball to spare at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Hyderabad opted to bat first. Despite losing Jonny Bairstow early on, David Warner (48) and Manish Pandey (54) provided the foundation of the innings on a rather slow wicket. Due to some late heroics by Kane Williamson (22*) and Priyam Garg (15), SRH posted a total of 158/4 at the end of the 20 overs.
In the chase, Rajasthan faltered right from the start as they lost star players in Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Steve Smith inside the opening five overs. Hyderabad mounted pressure on them and reduced them to 78/5 at one stage. But owing to a 85-run partnership between Rahul Tewatia (45*) and Riyan Parag (42*), RR managed to eke out a win and ended their four-match losing streak. They ended their innings on 163/5 after 19.5 overs.
After needing just eight runs off six balls, Rajasthan wrapped it all up with just one ball to spare with some serious help from Rahul Tewatia (45*) and Riyan Parag (42*). From needing 71 runs off 42 balls with just five wickets in hand, the Royals made a memorable comeback. It was all Hyderabad for the majority of the innings, but the game changed in the final five overs as the domestic players came up with a 85-run partnership to end Rajasthan's innings on 163/5 after 19.5 overs. What a match!
Tewatia has turned it up just like he did against Punjab, and now he's swatting them all against Rashid. Three back-to-back fours and the scenario has changed altogether. 14 runs off the over. Rajasthan need 22 runs from 12 balls. RR: 137/5 (18 overs)
After Parag was dropped in the last over, Rajasthan's fortunes have sort of changed. Parag (30*) ended Khaleel's over with a huge maximum to mid-wicket, and now Tewatia (18*) has followed it up with a six against Sandeep. Parag yet again steals the spotlight with two consecutive fours. 18 runs off the over. Can the Royals pull off another miracle like in Sharjah? RR: 123/5 (17 overs)
After two economical overs from Shankar and Sandeep, Rajasthan found themselves in some trouble. They have scored just 25 runs in the last five overs, losing two wickets. After a barrage of singles, Tewatia (7*) tries to up the ante against Natarajan, but his straight drive hits the opposite stumps. Parag was safe. The equation now stands at 65 runs from 30 balls. RR: 94/5 (15 overs)
Even though Samson and Parag resorted to dealing in singles and playing it safe, there's no certainty about being safe against Rashid. Sharp spin, an outside edge and caught behind. The Samson (26) threat has been eliminated. RR: 78/5 (12 overs)
Rashid scalps the fourth of the afternoon! The Afghanistani traps Uthappa between the wickets, big shout for lbw, up goes the finger. Uthappa did decide to challenge the call but to no avail. He departs on 18. Next up, Riyan Parag. RR: 63/4 (9.1 overs)
Rashid Khan comes in to make things even worse for Rajasthan. At a time when they have lost three and has a required rate near 9.00, playing the spinner is a headache. Even after hitting two boundaries in the last over, Samson plays it safe. RR: 52/3 (8 overs)
Even though Uthappa hit a six and a lucky four in the last over, the mood in the Rajasthan camp is a bit down now. Losing their three overseas batters inside five overs does come as a blow. Natarajan's maiden over makes it even worse. RR: 36/3 (6 overs)
Khaleel is on fire! There's no stopping him as he removes the destructive Buttler! Pitched right in the middle of the pitch, Buttler gets an inside edge and it goes back into the hands of the wicketkeeper Bairstow. The batsman departs on 16. RR: 26/3 (4.1 overs)
Just like Rajasthan, Hyderabad have also made a brilliant start with the ball. Despite Buttler hitting Natarajan for a four and a six, Sunrisers have made another breakthrough as Smith is runout by Natarajan. The captain walks back for 5. RR: 25/2 (3.3 overs)
Khaleel Ahmed comes in for the second over and he gets the big fish! The comeback is ended early as Stokes plays himself on and removes his own wickets' bails off. Bowled him! The batsman departs on 5. Next up, the captain Steve Smith. RR: 7/1 (1.2 over)
Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are out to open for Rajasthan. Sandeep Sharma has the ball for Hyderabad. After finishing quarantine yesterday, Stokes is off and running with a four straight of mid-off. Buttler and him deal in singles later on. RR: 6/0 (1 over)
Kane Williamson (22*) and Priyam Garg (15) score 35 runs in the last two overs, slaying Jofra Archer and Jaydev Unadkat and somehow get Hyderabad to finish on 158/4 at the end of the 20 overs. Rajasthan started off well, but the lack of wickets in regular intervals helped their opposition to put up a fighting total on the slow wicket. Steve Smith's side now need 159 runs to win.
Archer comes back in and Williamson just stuns everyone with a one-handed six straight down the ground off the very first ball. Archer strikes back, bowls Garg out, but on a free hit unfortunately. The Kiwi ends the over with another six. SRH: 142/3 (19 overs)
Pandey knows that he is settled and he has the responsibility of accelerating the innings. He took on Tewatia and hit a four and a six, and then he smacked Tyagi for a boundary. After reaching his fifty, he takes on Unadkat but he falls short. He misread Unadkat's slower bouncer and his shot goes straight to Tewatia. Pandey departs on 54. On comes Priyam Garg. SRH: 122/3 (17.4 overs)
146 kmph, near the conclusion of the innings, and a crucial wicket. Warner tries to hit the Englishman for a biggie but he swings and misses, and the ball hits the middle stumps and off goes the bails! The batsman departs on 48. SRH: 96/2 (15 overs)
RR have been immaculate with their lines, lengths and pace variations thus far, but if last night's CSK-RCB match is anything to go by, they can't relax just yet. Pandey just reminds them that with a confident maximum after nine consecutive singles. Gopal gives away ten runs from his over. The death overs are going to be crucial for SRH if they want to post 160 . SRH: 93/1 (14 overs)
Warner and Pandey crossed the 50-run mark together after the skipper smashed a six in the previous over. Now is the time to up the runrate... but Tewatia pours water over Hyderabad's plan. He gives away just three runs from the over. SRH: 77/1 (12 overs)
Ben Stokes comes in with the ball after the time-out. Even after scoring 11 runs in the previous over, both the Hyderabad batsmen play it cautiously. Warner does end the over with a well-timed four to deep extra cover. Seven runs off the over. SRH: 56/1 (9 overs)
Hyderabad have found their groove a bit against the incoming Rahul Tewatia. First, Pandey (9*) just smacks him straight down the ground for a six, and then Warner's (12*) innovative reverse-sweep results in a four. 12 runs from the over. SRH: 38/1 (7 overs)
