A source tells The Providence Journal the New England Patriots Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos will be played next week, confirming a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The time of the game is still unknown. The postponement came on the heels of reports that the Patriots had another positive COVID test. Later reports said it was New England defensive lineman Byron Cowart.

With the game being played next week, this week will serve as the Patriots’ bye week, which was supposed to be next week.

Denver was scheduled to play Miami next week, but according to 9News’ Mike Klis, that game will be rescheduled and the Broncos will lose their Week 8 bye.

Schefter later reported the Broncos will play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8 and in Week 11, will host Miami. The Dolphins will lose their Week 11 bye with the schedule change. Those changes are also contingent on the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans playing their game Tuesday night.
