Telangana records 1,717 new COVID-19 cases, five fatalities till Saturday night

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (UNI) Continuing the upward spiral, Telangana registered 1,717 new COVID-19 cases till 2000 hours on Saturday, taking the cumulative number of positive cases in the state to 2,10,346 so far.

The overall toll climbed to 1,222 as five more COVID-19 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours constituting a case fatality rate of 0.57 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Sunday.

The total number of recoveries in the state rose to 1,85,128 with 2,102 patients having been recuperated from coronavirus between Friday and Saturday with a recovery rate of 87.29 per cent while the national recovery rate was 85.9 per cent.

In all,46,657 samples were tested during the last 24 hours out of which the results of 1,093 swab samples were awaited, the bulletin informed.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, 35,47,057 COVID-19 tests had been carried out in the state.

According to the bulletin, the number of active cases in the state now stood at 25,753.

As usual, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits contributed a maximum 265 positive cases, followed by Rangareddy district (132), Medchal (131), Karimnagar (104) and Nalgonda (101).

The remaining positive cases of the day were contributed by other districts, the bulletin added.
