Pak targets forward posts along LoC in Rajouri, Poonch for 3rd day

JAMMU: Pakistani troops resorted to artillery fire to targeted forward Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts of J&K for the third consecutive day on Sunday. In these three days, Pakistanis breached truce once on Friday and thrice each on Saturday and Sunday.
Two BSF jawans were injured and some residential houses damaged in ceasefire violations by Pakistan on Saturday. Skirmishes along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts have escalated since October 1, when a junior commissioned officer (JCO) was martyred in Rajouri.
“About 6.40pm on Sunday, Pakistan troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by artillery shelling in Khari Karmara of Poonch district. Five minutes later, they fired with small arms and took to artillery shelling in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district. The Indian Army retaliated with equal force,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said.
“Before these two violations, Pakistan troops fired with small arms and resorted to intense mortar shelling along the LoC in Degwar sector of Poonch about 6.15pm,” he said.
In the last eight months, over 3,000 ceasefire violations by Pakistan have been reported — the highest in any eight-month period since 2003.
