Abu Dhabi, Oct 11 (UNI) Shikhar Dhawan brilliant half century 69 off 52 not out and skipper Shreyas Iyer's valuable 42 off 33 and 85 runs between them for the third wicket helped DC post a defendable162/4 in 20 overs against MI in the 27th Match of the IPL at Sheikh Zayed Stadium here on Sunday.

Shikhar Dhawan 69 off 52 (6 fours, 1 six) and Alex Carey 14 off 9 remained unbeaten putting 12 runs in the last over in Bumrah's spell taking DC score to 162.

Earlier, DC won the toss and opted to bat first against MI.

DC lost two quick wickets at 24 runs first of opener Prithvi Shaw at (4) in the very first over bowled by Trent Boult and then of Rahane at 15 off 15 balls (3 fours) in 5th over lbw by Krunal Pandya.

With exit of Shaw and Rahane, Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer played a sensible innings as duo put 85 runs stand for third wicket.

But then it was Krunal Pandya grabbing his second wicket in form of skipper Shreyas Iyer in 15th over at 42 off 33 balls (5 fours).

DC were 3 down at 109. Dhawan stood firm at the other end keeping the scoreboard running also came with his half century in 16th over.

DC lost their fourth wicket when Stoinis was run out in 17th over at 13 off 8 balls (2 fours). Dhawan and Stoinis added 21 runs for the fourth wicket.

Dhawan and Carey remained not out.

For MI wicket-takers were Krunal Pandya 2/26 and Trent Boult 1/36.
