Cameras at 70 factories to check emissions

Noida/Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has identified 70 factories in Noida and Ghaziabad and have put them under pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera surveillance to enforce round-the-clock emission quality check. The pollution department has initiated checks primarily on the heavy polluting industries in Ghaziabad and Hapur with special focus on Tronica City and Dasna areas.
The cameras have been installed by the factories themselves, facing their chimneys. The footage will be sourced and monitored by UPPCB.
“We are primarily looking at the heavy industries which have broilers and have continuous emission. The cameras are to be trained on the chimneys so we can monitor them at all times. There are some 70 industries which we have put under surveillance. Not all have started the camera monitoring and we are meeting them one-on-one to explain how it should be adopted,” Utsav Sharma, regional officer, UPPCB said. Meanwhile, 121 stubble burning cases in were recorded in UP in the first week of Oct with the most seen (14) in Aligarh.
