Lucknow, Oct 10 (UNI) Reacting to the tightening of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's security cover, in view of a looming threat, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that if there is such a threat to the Chief Minister, then it can be guessed in what state are the people in Uttar Pradesh living.
In a statement issued here, Mr Yadav said the security arrangements of the Chief Minister have been beefed up. The proposal related to Cabinet by circulation has been accepted. It will also be registered in the Green Book.
He further said that the Prime Minister's security management is detailed in the Blue Book and after its study, the Chief Minister's Green Book has been reviewed.
Since the day Mr Adityanath assumed power, his security has been reviewed from time-to-time but the question still arises, if there is so much threat to his security in 2020, it can be guessed what state the people are in, he added.
The SP chief averred that according to the 2019 report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there has been a 12 per cent increase in the total cases related to the harassment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of 59,853 cases of crime against women, in which 272 incidents of rape of girls under the age of 18 became part of the police records in the state. Total 3,065 cases of rape were reported in 2019, he noted.
Taking a jibe at the Chief Minister, his predecessor said that Mr Adityanath is so worried about his own security that he does not have time to think about the life of the people in the state.
If one looks at the recent cases, even the BJP leaders are not safe in this regime. The uncle of BJP MLA from Ghaziabad's Muradnagar was brutally murdered, said Mr Yadav.
He added that a BDS member was shot at in Azamgarh, while a youth in Mau, a woman in Etawah, and an elderly man in Gauriganj (Amethi) were murdered.
The current dispensation did not take the incidents of rape with the requisite seriousness, with the result, such cases kept on increasing, while the former chose to ignore the facts, said Mr Yadav.
He listed a few such cases, including rape of a teenager in Ghazipur police station area of Fatehpur, rape of another girl in Banda.
Mr Yadav said a girl was gangraped in Atrauli of Aligarh, while another 13-year-old was kidnapped and gangraped in Noida. Following gangrape, a victim in Unnao was thrown on the road at the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, he averred.
A five-year-old girl was raped in Kuravali police station area of Mainpuri, but the shameful thing was that in the name of the girl's treatment, a compensation of Rs 20,000 was provided from the accused in the Panchayat to settle the matter, added the former Chief Minister.
He said the reality was that the criminals were writing a new chapter in the state everyday, while the BJP government remained silent. The law and order was out of control and all the claims of the Chief Minister have proven to be false, Mr Yadav added.
