Director NIT, Hamirpur removed over irregularities

Hamirpur,HP, Oct 10 (UNI) The Director of NIT, Hamirpur has been removed from his position in connection with irregularities in his working.
Acting on the report of an inquiry committee, the Union Higher Education Ministry has terminated the services of Prof Vinod Yadava as the Director of NIT, an official spokesman said on Saturday.
He said that Prof. Yadava had assumed the charge as Director of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur from 23rd March, 2018 for a period of five years.
However, following large scale complaints against him, a Committee was constituted on 13th July, 2020 to inquire into the state of affairs of the NIT and to hold inquiries in various complaints received against the functioning of the Institute.
The report of the said Committee headed by Chairman NCTE, which found that there is certainly a prima-facie case against the Director of Institute, has been accepted by the competent authority in accordance with the provisions contained in the NITSER Act, 2007.
The Authority, has also approved for termination of service of Prof. (Dr.) Vinod Yadava from the post with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the HRD has decided with the approval of the Minister of Education that Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Awasthi, Director, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar NIT, Jalandhar (Punjab) will continue to hold the additional charge of the post of Director, NIT-Hamirpur in addition to his own duties.
On other hand, there are indications that the axe may also fall on all those who were appointed in this institution with the recommendations of Vinod Yadava.
