Chennai: Rain drenches a few areas, more likely over 2 days

CHENNAI: After a break of almost a week, parts of the city got rain on Friday.
An IMD forecast for next 48 hours said, "The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thundershower is likely to occur in some areas." The days are likely to be hot and evenings are likely to be rainy, said a met official. The maximum temperature will be around 34°C and minimum will be 26°C in the city on Saturday.
On Friday, southern suburbs received good rain while the core city was dry. Meenambakkam recorded 13.8mm rain.
An IMD official said, "The rain happened because of the effect of a low pressure that has developed over north Andaman and also due to an upper air circulation. There will be rain in the coming days."
The low pressure is expected to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast turning into a depression that will bring more rain to places along the coast. It will cross the Andhra coast on October 12.
