Andaman issues heavy rainfall warning following formation of well-marked low pressure over BOB

Port Blair, Oct 10 (UNI) Following presence of a well-marked Low Pressure area over east central & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has issued a heavy rainfall warning for people of these Islands.
Fishermen of Andaman Islands have been advised not to venture into sea from October 10 to 13.
According to a release issued by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a well marked low pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea in the early morning of 10th October 2020 has been noted.
As per IMD, the low pressure lay over east central & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal in the morning of 10th October 2020.
“It is very likely to move west-northwestwards & intensify into a Depression over central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. There is also a possibility that the system may further intensify into a Deep Depression during the subsequent 24 hours. Further moving west-northwestwards, it is very likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh coast during 12th October 2020, Forenoon / Noon,” an official release of IMD said.
Meanwhile, heavy rain has lashed many parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today and it is expected that many Islands will receive heavy rain in coming days due to the low pressure. Since January 2020 Andaman and Nicobar Islands has received 2187.4 mm of rainfall.UNI SKR AKM

Shillong, Oct 10 (UNI) A 42-year-old cop died due to Novel Coronavirus in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district. The policeman is the first such victim in the Meghalaya police department, taking the number of fatalities due to the viral infection in the State to 62, health official said on Saturday
Armed Branch Constable Pulsan Dalu of Police Reserve, Williamnagar, was admitted at Civil Hospital, Williamnagar on Friday morning and tested positive for COVID-19 and later succumbed to the viral infection on the same day, Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said.
