JAMMU: Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured in Mendhar area when Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire thrice with unprovoked firing and intense shelling along Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday.
“Two jawans of 72 Battalion BSF — identified as constable C H Manohar and constable Riyaz Ahmed — sustained splinter injuries during the shelling by Pakistan. Both were shifted to a health facility,” said a source.
First, Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by resorting to firing with small arms and intense mortar shelling which targeted civilian areas at 1.30am in Mankote sector. Then, Pakistan targeted the Mendhar sector around 6pm and this was followed by Khari Karmara area being targeted around 6.30pm, Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said.
Sources said several residential houses in Mankote area of Mendhar sub-division of Poonch suffered damage in intense shelling by Pakistan.
