Chennai: The arrested were Vinoth Kumar (25) of Kannan Colony, also the youth treasurer of DMK in zone 162, and his friend Ajith Kumar (32), a DMK worker. On Sunday, Adambakkam station SI Mohandas (54) was on his way home in Madipakkam on his bike at around 9.30 pm when on Thillai Ganga Nagar subway saw four men sitting in the middle of the road and consuming liquor. When he asked them to leave, the group attacked Mohandas and since he contacted the control room they snatched his mobile phone and bike and sped away. The Adambakkam police, who admitted Mohandas in a private hospital, combed CCTV footages and identified the culprits as Vinothkumar, Ajithkumar and their friends. On Thursday, police arrested both of them. They were remanded in judicial custody and sent to prison. Further inquiry is on.
