GHAZIABAD: A worker with a factory making cardboards in Shastri Nagar industrial area was hammered to death by unknown assailants on Wednesday night. Police have sent the body for an autopsy. The alleged murder came to light on Thursday morning after Prem Kumar’s body was spotted by another worker of the factory. Prem’s head had been badly crushed with a hammer. His brother Avinash Kumar, originally from Bihar, gave a written complaint to police. Avinash told the cops that his brother would stay in Rajapur village of Ghaziabad and used to work in the cardboard factory in Shastri Nagar.
He claimed that Prem had got his salary on Wednesday and was returning home when some miscreants robbed him and then killed him with a hammer when he raised an alarm.
On Thursday morning, an employee of the factory saw his body and informed Avinash over the phone. A police team reached the spot and took the body for an autopsy.
Prem’s wife said she had not called him up because her husband would often stay in the factory for night duty. But when he did not arrive in the morning, she got worried and informed his brother. The hammer, with which Prem was possibly attacked, was also found on the spot. Cash and other documents from Prem’s pocket were missing, although his bicycle and mobile phone were found inside the factory.
Police suspect one of his acquaintances might have called him out at night and attacked him.
