Senior bids farewell, junior inherits mantle for people's welfare

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's demise is set to add an "emotive element" in the campaign as well as in the Bihar Assembly elections as a whole, being 'watched' by the global community, commencing from October 28 in phases.
Son Chirag Paswan, who recently decided to go it 'alone' in the elections, the largest elections to be held first in the world amid the Covid-19 pandemic, is seeking to inherit the mantle in a poll where he has declared Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as his 'arch rival' for alleged misrule.
Informatively, Chirag had a month ago announced that he intends to carry on his father's political ideology and work citing the senior Paswan's bad health and the 'possibility' of his not taking part in the poll campaign.
Incidentally, given his stature as a Dalit leader, the late LJP chief was not just a Bihar 'figure' but a national one.
According to political pandits, senior Paswan's void is a 'test' for the junior as the former could manage several 'contradictions' without losing sight of his political goals.
As campaign gets underway, BJP is likely to be in a situation where it pays tributes to the LJP founder, but actively opposes LJP with top leaders making clear their support for the CM.
"Bihar polls will witness both of T S Eliot's 'Tradition and the Individual Talent'-which emerges stronger remains to be seen.," the pandits said.
Apart from October 28, voting in Bihar for the 243 seats would also be held on November 3 and 7.
Counting would be held on November 10.
