Congress president Sonia Gandhi condoles Paswan's demise

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday expressed grief over the demise of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and offered her condolences.
In her condolence message Ms Gandhi said, ''My deepest condolences on the passing away of Shri Ram Vilas Paswan.A towering personality, who stood with the cause of social justice and empowerment of the most marginalized, Shri Paswan will be forever remembered for asserting the cause of social and political equity. I remember his long association as an ally and as a competent and dynamic minister of the UPA. My thoughts are with his wife, Chirag and all the family members, friends and followers in this moment of loss and grief.''
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Abhishek Manu Singhvi , Sachin Pilot and others also offered their condolences on the passing away of Ram Vilas Paswan remembering them as the bold voice of the poor and downtrodden.
Paswan's demise was informed by his son, Chirag Paswan, who in twitter post, said, "Papa is no more in this world, but I know wherever you are, you are always with me. Miss you Papa."
The Lok Janshakti Party founder, Paswan, had been unwell for a few weeks. He had been suffering from a heart condition for a long time and was admitted to Escort Hospital here where he undergo a heart surgery and was likely to undergo another one in few weeks.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah had called up Chirag Paswan to enquire about his father's health.
Considered to be India's prominent Dalit leaders, the 74-year-old Paswan has had an active political career spanning five decades.
