NOIDA:
Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary health and family welfare, on Thursday held a review meeting with senior officials of Gautam Budh Nagar to review the Covid-19 situation in the district.
Prasad has asked the district’s
Covid response team to prepare a
report on the future projections and resources required to deal with the situation.
He also visited sector 59 located close to the control room to see overall functioning of the surveillance and contact tracing team. Prasad said, “The case fatality rate of
Gautam Budh Nagar district is one of the lowest in the state. I wanted to know the treatment protocol being followed here. I noticed that cases had gone up slightly in September but things are under control now since proper contact tracing is taking place. We are coordinating with the home department to prepare for the challenges during the festival season.”
Officials from the Government Institute of Medical Sciences and Sharda Hospital, both L3 facilities in the district, gave detailed description to Prasad about the procedure followed to deal with people with comorbidities and pre-existing conditions.
Chief medical officer of the district, Deepak Ohri said, “We have adequate resources at our disposal. However, we need specialised doctors and have communicated the same to senior officials.”
The health department has raised demand for 12 MBBS doctors to join the fight against Covid-19 since the present manpower remains overworked. “At times doctors have got no time to quarantine themselves after being relieved from duties in the Covid ward,” said a member of the response team. Around 14,500 people are infected with the virus in the district while 56 have died.
