Rahul should take cognisance of crimes against women in Raj, apologise for failing people: Javadekar

Rahul should take cognisance of crimes against women in Raj, apologise for failing people: Javadekar

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Lashing out at the principal opposition party Congress, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Friday that Rahul Gandhi, who was indulging in political tourism to BJP-ruled states, should take cognisance of heinous crimes perpetrated against women in Rajasthan and apologise to the people that their government has failed.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Javadekar said law and order had gone for a toss in Congress-ruled Rajasthan.

'Today in Karauli, a priest of a temple was burnt alive by the goons who wanted to take possession of the land belonging to the temple. Incidents of rape are being reported from all parts of the Rajasthan.'

He said a group of men stormed a police station at Behror in Alwar district and freed Haryana’s notorious history-sheeter from the lock-up after firing indiscriminately using AK-47s.

Shameful incidents of crime were taking place in Bara, Banswara, Barmer, Jaipur, Sikar and several other districts in Rajasthan, he maintained. Mr Javadekar pointed out that Mr Gandhi, who was making political tours in BJP-ruled states, should take cognisance of these issues and either ask the Rajasthan government to resign or make efforts for its betterment.

He demanded that the Rajasthan government should take action against the culprits, adding that this was an important aspect of public life, where Rahul Gandhi was failing, he added.

A temple priest died after he was set on fire by five persons over a land dispute in Rajasthan’s Karauli district, police said on Friday.

State BJP president Satish Poonia said this case of a temple priest burnt alive proves that the law and order system in the state has collapsed and the criminals have no fear of the law. 'Rajasthan Police’s punchline seems to have now changed to 'Apradhi Mast, Janta Trast' under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot,' he said.
