Cong announces five more candidates for UP assembly bypolls, RLD names one

Lucknow, Oct 9 (UNI) The Congress party on Friday announced five more candidates for the coming assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh.

Dr Kamlesh Singh has been named from Naugawan Sadat seat in Amroha district, Sushil Choudhury from the Bulandshahr seat, Ms Sneh Lata from Tundla(SC) seat in Firozabad district, Kripa Shanker from Ghatampur(SC) seat in Kanpur Dehat and Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria seat.

The Congress had already given ticket to Ms Aarti Bajpai from Bangarmau seat in Unnao district. The name of the candidate from Malhani seat in Jaunpur district is yet to be announced.

On the other hand, Rashtriya Lok Dal(RLD) has named Praveen Kumar Singh as the party candidate from the Bulandshahr seat. The RLD will contest the seat in alliance with Samajwadi party and will support the SP candidates in the remaining seven seats.

The SP has announced candidates four four seats.

The polling for the seven assembly bypolls will be held on November 3 for which nominations began on Friday.

However, on the first day, none of the candidates submitted their papers.

Chandigarh, Oct 9 (UNI) As many as 829 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 35 deaths were reported in Punjab on Friday, taking the infection tally to 1,22,459 and the death toll to 3,773.
