Have no objection to increase no of local trains: Mah govt to Bombay HC

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) Maharashtra government on Friday told the Bombay High Court that it has no objection to increase the number of local trains, which are being presently run for the essential service workers and remain off limits for general public.
Advocate General of Maharashtra A A Kumbhakoni made the statement during the hearing a bunch of the petitions seeking directions to the State for including lawyers and their registered clerks in the list of essential service workers.
He said, ''As the figures are climbing down fortunately for us, we try to open up sectors gradually. We know our capacity to treat infected patients, once we open up sectors, cases increase but it never crosses the threshold, that's why we need to open up step by step."
He also raised the issue that many select travellers aren't wearing masks.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Dipankar Datta remarked, "We are thinking of extending the benefit of travel in interim order passed earlier to lawyers and clerks in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Let's see how this experiment works."
