MADURAI: Information and publicity minister Kadambur C Raju on Friday said that former Union minister for shipping and finance Pon Radhakrishnan is 'frustrated' as his party has sidelined him.
The minister said, "Pon Radhakrishnan is making unnecessary comments about the alliance for 2021 state assembly elections. He is a senior person, but the party (BJP) as well as people of his constituency (Kanyakumari) have sidelined him. This has frustrated the former minister."
Interacting with reporters at Kalugumalai in Tuticorin district on Friday, Kadambur Raju was responding to a question on Radhakrishnan’s comment about the BJP’s alliance with AIADMK.
Radhakrishnan said that the alliance was for the 2019 general election. For the upcoming state elections, he said BJP may form an alliance with the AIADMK or DMK or contest alone.
To this, Raju said that Radhakrishnan is neither a BJP leader at the national level or state level. “The party high command or state president can talk about alliance. Murugan is the president of BJP's Tamil Nadu unit. He has issued a statement that their alliance with AIADMK is strong on the same day after Radhakrishnan made his statement,” he said.
Raju added that there was no necessity for him to respond to Radhakrishnan.
The minister also said that chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami – who’s earlier scheduled visit to Tuticorin in the third week of September was cancelled – will visit Tuticorin on October 13, to review development works and the Covid-19 situation in the district.
