From online talks to film, the outdoors is on a screen near you
Heide talks
The Heide Museum of Modern Art is running a series of online gardening talks this month. First up is healing landscapes and the therapeutic benefits of plants by gardener Katie Grace and naturopath and counsellor Caitlin Graham-Jones, on October 14, at 11am.
Alice Crow will take viewers to the Heide kitchen garden on October 21 at 11am, to discuss what to plant in spring and how to minimise pest damage.

Finally, on October 28 at11am, head gardener David Murphy will talk about the trees planted by John and Sunday Reed after they bought what was an old dairy farm with few plants in 1934.

Out-of-town bushwalks are still off the agenda for Melburnians but Alison Pouliot takes a virtual tour through forests, over fallen logs and across leaf litter in her new five-minute film, The Kingdom Fungi’ Pouliot, an ecologist, natural historian and environmental photographer, speaks about how fungi underpin “pretty much every terrestrial ecosystem on the planet” and highlights the “mega-diverse” array of these organisms in Australia. vimeo.com/alisonpouliot
