Bhubaneswar, Oct 09 (UNI) Covid deaths in Odisha shot up to 991 with the fresh death of 17 people in the past 24 hours while Covid tally rose to 2,46,839 with the detection of 2697 new cases from all the 30 districts.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours, four Covid patients died in Khordha district followed by 3 in Balasore, two each in Mayurbhanj and Puri and one each in six other districts raising the toll in the state to 991.
Sources said of the 2697 new cases reported during the past 24 hours,1576 were from the quarantine centres and the rest 1121 are local contact cases.
While Covid fatality was reported from ten districts in the state during the past 24 hours, over one hundred Covid positive cases each were reported from nine districts with Khordha registering the highest number of 482 cases followed by Cuttack ( 234), Nuapada(153), Sundargarh ( 120) and Jajpur ( 118 ).
Six major districts such as Khordha,Cuttack, Ganjam ,Puri,Balasore and Sundargarh have so far reported 627 deaths(63 per cent) while Covid tally in these six districts accounted for 1,14,043 (46.20 percent).
As of midnight of October 09, as many as 36,64,678 tests were conducted in the state of which 2,46,839 have been infected with coronavirus.
While 2,16,984 of them have been cured and discharged from the hospital, 28,811 active cases are under treatment in the state .
The recovery case in the state now stands at 87 per cent and only 0.4 per cent Covid fatality has been reported till date.
