Murder convict who jumped parole attack cops, held

THANE: A sub-inspector and a constable attached to crime branch sustained minor injuries when a murder convict who jumped parole and was in hiding, attacked the policemen during the wee hours of Friday.
The police said that the convict identified as Navnath Dhangde was pinned down after the officers flashed his service revolver and the accused gave up the confrontation.
The police said that it was based on a TOI report on the convict who jumped parole, the crime branch formed a team led by sub inspector Datta Sarak and constable Ananda Bhillare among others started to probe and got a tip-off that the accused was holed up at a hillock area behind Lokmanya Nagar.
The police reached his shanty when the Dhangde confronted and attacked the cops with chopper before pinning him down.
He shall be handed over to the local police.
