New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday paid his last respects to late Union Food Supply and Consumer Affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan at his official residence here.
Seventy-four-year-old Paswan passed away after illness late on Thursday evening after undergoing a heart operation five days ago.
Mr Gandhi reached Ram Vilas Paswan's official residence in Janpath and paid his respects to the LJP leader.
The Congress leader met the bereaved family members and offered his condolences.
In a condolence letter to LJP chief Chirag Paswan, Mr Gandhi said, 'Dear Chirag, I am deeply
saddened by the sudden demise of your father Shri Ram Vilas Paswan. We have lost a veteran leader who left a lasting imprint on politics and public service in both Bihar and our nation."
'In an illustrious public life spanning over five decades, he gave voice to the most marginalised
sections of our society and defended the rights of the poor and the vulnerable. As member of
Parliament and Union Minister, he voiced their interests and concerns with passion,' he said in his letter.
'His unwavering commitment to social justice and equality is particularly relevant in these times. His
enduring legacy will continue to inspire people dedicated to public service,' the Congress leader said in his letter.
'My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time,' Mr Gandhi said in his letter.
