MVA govt demands strict action in TRP scam

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) The Maha Vikas Aghadi(MVA) government on Friday demanded stringent action into the massive TRP scam detected by the Mumbai Police, allegedly implicating some private television channels, including Republic TV.
The MVA, comprising the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress parties, also asked the union government whether the central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will enter the picture.
In a letter addressed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Union Law & Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sena MP and spokesman Sanjay Raut asked given the huge magnitude of the scam, whether the central agencies like the ED will show their presence.
Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that irrespective of their position, all those found guilty in the matter would be dealt with strictly.
Similarly, the Congress spokesman Sachin Sawant said besides the huge amounts of thousands of crores of rupees involved in the scam, it was a blow to the Fourth Pillar of democracy.
Contending that the TRP scam in which the Mumbai Police have named Republic TV, Fakt Marathi, Box Cinema and India Today TV was worth over Rs 30,000-crore, Mr Raut said it is as big as the 2G scam and some other defence scandals of the past.
