Providence College students who live on campus are headed back to in-person class Thursday.

Ann Manchester-Molak, executive vice president of the college, said the state Department of Health gave them the go-ahead for the restart of in-person learning at a meeting Wednesday evening.

Students who live off-campus will be able to go back to in-person class on Monday, Manchester-Molak said.

The move was made after the college made progress with its coronavirus test positivity rate; on Wednesday, 293 students were tested, and none was positive, Manchester-Molak said.

The stay-at-home directive for students is remaining in place until further notice, but the college will confer next week with DOH about it.

The college had to move to remote learning, test everyone and issue a stay-at-home order because of a spike in positive cases linked to an off-campus neighborhood. PC has so far this semester identified 237 positive cases among students, according to the latest data update.
