Drug Mephedrone worth Rs 20 cr seized; 5 held in Pune

Pune, Oct 8 (UNI) In a major drug raid, 20 kg Mephedrone, a banned drug which also known as 'Meow Meow', worth Rs 20 crores has been seized and five people were arrested in this connection, informed the Pimpri Chinchwad Police on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Jharkhand native Sanjeevkumar Bansi Raut (44), Tausif Hasan Mohammad Taslim (31) from Bihar, Chetan Fakkad Dandawate (28), and Anandgir Gosavi and Akshay Kale, both aged 25.
Acting on a tip-off on Wednesday afternoon, the Anti-Narcotics Cell intercepted a car on the Chakan-Shikrapur road. Subsequently, the vehicle's search led to the discovery of the contraband.
A probe has been initiated into the source of the drug consignment and the intended recipients of it, police added.
