MG Gloster SUV has finally been launched in India for a competitive starting price of Rs 28.98 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). The Chinese automaker’s fourth model for the Indian market will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and also, the Mahindra Alturas G4 in the sub Rs 50 lakh SUV segment. Speaking of engine specs, the MG Gloster draws power from a 1,996cc, twin-turbo diesel engine that is good for developing respective power and torque of 218hp and 480Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of with the help of an 8-speed automatic unit. The Gloster gets a four-wheel-drive system along with a locking rear e-differential for better off-road capabilities. Four driving modes namely Sand, Snow, Rock and Mud will be on offer too. The introductory pricing for the MG Gloster is valid till 31st October or for the first 2,000 customers whichever happens earlier.

MG Gloster will be launched in India with a choice of two engine options. These include a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor that produces 161 bhp of power along with a peak torque of 375 Nm. This engine will be offered with the base Super and Smart trim levels. On the other hand, the Sharp and Savvy trims will get a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 215 bhp of power along with a torque output peaking at 480 Nm. Both these engines will be available with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
MG Gloster gets some advanced safety features and these include segment-first Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which aims to enhance not only the driving experience but safety too. The features include auto park assist, adaptive cruise control along with forward-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking. However, these features will only be available on the top-end Savvy variant. The said variant is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). More details to follow soon!
MG Gloster will be launched in India across four trim levels namely Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy.
As the car is quite feature-rich, even the base Super trim level will gets bits like LED headlamps with LED DRLs along with LED fog lamps and alloy wheels. Moreover, you get push-button stop/start along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen system and cruise control. The top-end trim will get some additional bits like a semi-digital instrument panel with an 8-inch TFT screen. Moreover, you get a panoramic sunroof along with three-zone climate control system, ventilated seats at the front, ambient lighting in 64 colours. Massage function for the driver seat along with iSmart connectivity suite will also be on offer.
MG Gloster is being promoted by the company as India's first Level 1 autonomous car. This means that the car comes with numerous features like park assist that tempt you to believe that this one can do certain things on its own. No other car in the segment offers such features.
