
BS6 BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS India Launch: The largest contributors to BMW Motorrad’s sales in India with a share of over 85% in yearly sales, the G310 R and G310 GS have come back in their BS6 updated guise which also boasts other changes like new colour schemes. The German motorcycle manufacturer unveiled the 2020 G310 GS in its new skin some days back and now the R has been revealed, along with their respective price tags. 2020 BS6 BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS have both gone on sale in India starting today and bookings can be made through an authorised dealership and online as well. The two have been upgraded with ride-by-wire throttle, all LED lighting, adjustable clutch & brake levers, along with all-new colour options for both.
The two are powered by a 313cc fuel-injected water-cooled single-cylinder engine that puts out 34 hp and 28 Nm and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Starting price: Rs 2.45 lakh and 2.85 lakh for G 310 R and G 310 GS, respectively.
The new BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS now feature a full-LED headlight, LED flashing turn indicators, and LED brake lights. The new LED headlight connections eliminate any light cone vibrations on uneven roads.
India is the first country to witness the launch of the 2020 BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS. Both motorcycles are available at BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards.
The new BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS have been developed in Munich, Germany by BMW Motorrad and are locally produced as per BS-VI standards in Hosur, India by cooperation partner TVS Motor Company.
The BMW G310 R and G310 GS both feature a twin-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a multi-function instrument cluster with a large display and a range of information.
The two get an exclusive range of accessories and merchandise.
The motorcycles have been upgraded with a ride-by-wire throttle that should make for improved and smoother throttle response. The R and GS accelerate from 0–50 km/hr in 2.5 seconds and can do a claimed top speed of 143 km/h. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
BMW Motorrad bikes come with a standard warranty for ‘three years, unlimited kilometers. The warranty can be extended to the fourth and fifth year at an additional cost of Rs 16,250. The first 500 customers will avail of a special price of Rs 5,499. The two also offer road-side assistance services - 24x7, 365 days.
The new BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS are now available on finance schemes through BMW India Financial Services with all-inclusive monthly installments starting at Rs 4,500 and Rs 5,500, respectively (calculation for a loan under the BMW Bullet Plan).
BMW G 310 R has been launched in the following colours - Cosmic Black, Polar White and ‘Style Sport’ in Limestone Metallic (additional Rs 10,000 on ex-showroom price).
The new BMW G 310 GS has been launched in the following colours – Polar White, ‘40 years of GS’ Edition in Cosmic Black and ‘Style Rallye’ in Kyanite blue Metallic (additional Rs 6,000 on ex-showroom price for the ‘Style Rallye’ and ‘40 years of GS’ Edition).

While the older BS4 version of the G310 R and GS retailed at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2020 BS6 models have been launched at Rs 2.45 lakh and 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. This the R more affordable by Rs 54,000 and the GS by Rs 64,000.

BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS so far retailed at Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh in their BS4 versions, respectively. With the upgrades to the 2020 models, speculations suggest that there could be about Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 price reduction that would make them more competitive in the market.
The new BMW G 310 BS6 twins will be powered by the same 312.2cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine that also powers the BS6 Apache RR 310. It is expected to deliver similar power and torque output as before at 34 hp and 28 Nm but with the BS6 emissions standard upgrade, the powertrain could offer better refinement than before.
The 2020 BMW 310 twins will come with styling upgrades that could include a contrast colour on the frame as seen in the teaser and LED headlamps for both. A new paint scheme for the G310 GS has been revealed already. It mixes black colour with red, blue and silver accents. Moreover, the ‘GS’ logo on the fuel tank is now bigger and it gets a ‘Rallye’ sticker on the beak.
