Banks board bureau (BBB) has recommended the appointment of Swaminathan Jankiraman and Ashwani Kumar Tiwari as managing director of SBI.
The Central Government appointed Dinesh Kumar Khara, Managing Director, SBI as the new Chairman, State Bank of India. He will be taking over the charge of the post on or after 7th October 2020 for three years until further notice. He has previously served as Managing Director State Bank of India.

Khara and Ajit Basu, who is due to retire at the end of the month will be replaced by deputy MD Jankiraman and Tiwari.
Dinesh Kumar Khara has previously served as MD (global banks and subsidiaries). In that role, he led and stirred the international banking group, corporate and treasury operation of the bank. He has been able to guide and lead subsidiary wings of SBI thus ensuring a successful pathway for the non-banking subsidiaries wing of bank viz. SBI mutual fund, SBI insurance, SBI credit cards.
MD (associate and subsidiaries) is known to successfully accomplish merging of 5 associate banks and Bhartiya Mahila Bank with SBI.
Prior to being appointed as MD (associate and subsidiaries), he was MD and CEO of SBI funds management private limited.
Dinesh Kumar did his master’s in business administration from FMS Delhi. And post-graduation in commerce from Delhi school of economics.
