Panaji: Members of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress along with office bearers of the state unit of the Congress party barged into the Agassaim-based office of Dilip Buildcon Company on Thursday as the company could not fulfill its assurance of repairing the roads in the area.

This is the second time the Congress members have barged into the office of this company within a week.

The Congress party press release said that the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress members had put forth their demands in writing to which the company has assured in writing. “An ultimatum has been issued to the company to repair the roads from Verna to Bambolim within 48 hours failing which these members have threatened to intensify their protest,” it added.

Heavy police force was deployed at the site under Agassaim police inspector Vijay Rane and Old Goa police inspector Krishna Sinari. Project vice president of Dilip Buildcon later assured the delegation that the repair of roads from Verna to Bambolim shall commence within 24 hours’ time.

Sankalp Amonkar, the vice president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee; Varad Mardolkar, the president of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress; Amarnath Panjikar, the GPCC general secretary and others were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Panjikar said that the arrogance and insensitivity of the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Pramod Sawant has now reached its peak. “People of Goa will soon remove the power plug of this corrupt and anti-people government,” he added. Panajikar was reacting to the recent statement of the Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, who had said that people, who are opposing the Mollem Project should disconnect their power connections.

“The Power Minister should first come out with a detailed report on actual power consumption requirement in the state, giving breakup of domestic, commercial and industrial consumption,” he said, adding that the people of Goa also need to know what action the government has taken to stop power thefts in Goa.

Panjikar further said that the BJP government is allowing big industrialists to go scot free with non-payment of bills, while it is harassing the common man for delay in the payment of their domestic power bills, fully knowing that the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the collapse of household budgets.
