KVS did commendable work in education sector during Covid period: Pokhriyal

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said on Thursday that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has done a commendable job by continuing the school education digitally through the challenging phase of Covid-19.

Dr Pokhriyal appreciated the work done by KVS in the Corona crisis period while inaugurating new buildings of Kendriya Vidyalayas in Nayagarh and Rairangpur in Odisha, Hanumangarh in Rajasthan and Faridabad in Haryana through video conferencing here, saying the strength, competence and ability of any institution was demonstrated by the work done by it in difficult circumstances and the decisions taken by it.

"In the challenging phase of Covid-19, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has done a commendable job by continuing uninterruptedly school education through digital medium," he stated.

He said the construction of these four schools, which operated from temporary buildings, cost about

Rs 68.60 crore and will benefit about 4,000 students in Odisha, Haryana and Rajasthan. These buildings would be available in classrooms, laboratories, computer labs. The library was equipped with sports and music and all kinds of facilities required for differently-abled children. These buildings will prove to be helpful in the all-round development of the students, the minister said.

Counting the achievements of the KVS, Dr Pokhriyal said that since its establishment in 1963, this organisation has become an exemplary institution of educational service. There were currently 1,239 Kendriya Vidyalayas under this organisation which were symbols of 'Small India' in their respective regions and could also be called symbols of national unity.

Referring to the results of the Board Examinations of the year released by CBSE of whom 99.23 per cent in KVS's Class 10 and 98.62 per cent in Class 12 had passed, he said these results were praiseworthy and due to the educational quality of KVS.

Highlighting the work done by KVS in online education during the Covid crisis, the Union Minister said, "KVS has directed all its regional offices to continue the education of all their students." Keeping in mind the future of the students, Kendriya Vidyalayas have provided all possible solutions to the problems of the students with the help of live sessions and Skype, live web chat on portals like NIOS and Swayam Prabha.

In order to promote scientific outlook among the students, the KVS, he said, was conducting special programmes like Atal Tinkering Lab and Prakriti, adding that through all these efforts, the Kendriya Vidyalayas had made a mark in the field of education today.

The Union Minister informed about the key points of the new National Education Policy and said, "The responsibility for the implementation of the new education policy now increases on educational organisations like Kendriya Vidyalaya. It is the education policy of the nation whose success is our collective responsibility."

He called upon the people of the country, including the officials and staff of KVS, to come forward to make India a superpower of knowledge and give full support in the development of schools.

Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare and senior KVS officials were also present in the video conferencing.
