Thai police seize 500,000 methamphetamine pills from overturned truck

Bangkok, Oct 8 (Xinhua) Thai police on Thursday reported that authorities have seized 500,000 methamphetamine tablets from an overturned pickup truck involved in an accident in the northern province of Phichit.
Police said that when the accident happened on Thursday, rescue workers quickly arrived at the scene of the road accident on a provincial highway.
Rescue workers attended to an overturned pick-up truck while an injured man was trying to remove two bags and was limping his way to conceal the bags in roadside bushes.
The act became too suspicious, leading the rescue workers to alert the police.
Police later found 500,000 methamphetamine tablets in the bags.
The injured man later allegedly admitted that he was hired by a drug trafficker to deliver one million methamphetamine pills to two customers in the central region.
The injured told police that half of the drugs had already been delivered to a customer in Phichit on Tuesday night and the other half was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday to another customer, but his pickup truck crashed into a roadside power pole, injuring him, his wife and five-year-old son.
He is now being held in police custody for further questioning
