Fisheries department official arrested in bribery case in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Oct 8 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Kolhapur unit on Thursday arrested acting assistant commissioner in Fisheries department of the state while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs two lakh from a complainant.
The alleged accused, Pradeep Keshav Surve, had demanded Rs 10 lakh as bribe for helping the complainant in getting reimbursement for damaged fishing nets from the state government.
Then, the matter was settled for Rs five lakh, with Rs two lakh as the first installment, a press release issued by ACB said.
However, complainant informed this to city unit of ACB, whose team laid a trap at the Fisheries department office and caught red-handed Surve while accepting the bribe money from the complainant, it added.
